ALICE COOPER Look-Alike Competition Launched In Tasmania
June 24, 2005Tasmania's Examiner.com.au is reporting that an ALICE COOPER fan, licensee Steve Williams, is hosting an Alice Cooper look-alike competition in connection with Cooper's appearance at at the Silverdome in Launceston, Tasmania on July 1, with the winner receiving tickets to the concert.
Yesterday, employees at at the Saloon Bar on St John St, Doug Neil and Aaron Hack, were rehearsing their Cooper moves in readiness.
"Cooper had the bad-boy image but he was a real showman," Mr. Hack said after applying the characteristic black lines from each side of his mouth.
"He must have used a fortune in mascara."
Mr. Neil said his favourite Cooper song was "Poison", while Mr. Hack nominated "Only Women Bleed".
Mr. Williams said Cooper's album "Welcome To My Nightmare" was one of the first albums he ever bought.
At 57, Cooper, whose real name is Vincent Furnier, shows no sign of slowing.
This is his 20th world tour and he's made 26 or 27 albums — he can't remember which.
Promoter Bruce England said organizers were expecting 2,500 people at the concert and ticket sales were going well.
Tickets are still available for the concert from the Silverdome.
